Damian Wayne. When I first read about him in Batman And Son, I hated him. A lot. He was rude, antisocial, selfish, and was just an overall brat. This was in trade of course, I hadn’t started reading new comics on a weekly basis yet. But when I did, it was right at the start of Dick Grayson becoming Batman and Damian becoming Robin.
As I read Morrison’s run, it quickly became one of my all-time favorite Batman stories (after all, the run really IS one big story), and Damian started to grow on me, more and more. It didn’t actually take long before I was able to say I was fond of the character, and like Dick and Tim at the time (who were stepping into new roles at a rough time when I first got into High School), I really identified with the character; I felt like I was growing with him. Right beside the Boy Wonder, every step of the way.
Eventually, Damian became more than another Robin I enjoyed. He became MY Robin. My absolute favorite one (and boy do I love the Robins!). There were many layers to his character, and the overall premise behind him was really deep. He was charming, unintentionally funny, badass, and definitely his father’s son. I felt proud for the little guy, he came such a long way from when I first read about him. I changed, too.
Now, one of my favorite memories of Damian outside of Morrison’s Batman and Robin, was when Pete Tomasi took over the title, and continued into the New 52. “Born to Kill”, was a story that really resonated with me, and continues to be one of my most beloved Batman tales to this day. Damian and Bruce’s relationship by the end made me tear up, and I realized that Damian was a kid that felt like a real person to me… I loved this character and wanted him to remain Robin forever.
But alas, it was not meant to be. I am completely heartbroken that a character with so much more potential than the previous Robins, was taken from us so soon. I’m not angry at Grant or DC for this, but I do wish it happened much later. When I found out he was going to die, those two days felt like a loved one was in critical condition, and I just wanted to spend as much time with that person as possible.
But when all was said and done, Damian died a hero. He went down fighting (and putting up a damn impressive fight, at that) and those last three panels we saw of him were just… horrifying. I still can’t believe it happened.
Being an optimist, I’ll always hold onto the hope that he’ll return one day. But I feel like this isn’t like most superhero deaths, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this sticks for at least a decade or two. It is by far, the most tragic death in all of comics, in my mind. And it will never stop hurting.
We’ll miss you, Damian.
Am I the only one who is extremely brokenhearted by Damian’s death, but isn’t mad about it?
<GOOD NIGHT> fanbook .

Young Damian Wayne by Patrick Gleason (Batman and Robin #0)
Alfred: Aspirin, Sir?
Brooose: Get the tranq gun, Alfred. -___-
Dick: That’s enough, Little D…
Damian: Unhand me, Grayson!
Tim: Lemme go, Jay!
Jason: Oh Shit!
Bruce is experiencing the joys of fatherhood. LOL

“You’re a ten-year-old boy who doesn’t know how to have fun.”
“I wasn’t raised to have fun.”
“Then why are you smiling?”
“Yes you are.”
“No, I am not.”
“Sure looks like a smile.”
“I’m thinking about stabbing you.”
“Which would be fun?”
One of the things I hated most about Robinson’s run. This plot-point went nowhere. Damian was never ever seen anywhere near the Justice League again after this scene, despite heavily suggesting he’d join.
guess who re-read Battle For the Cowl
The trailer and the main feature.
UGH I KNEW I SHOULD’VE READ THAT TITANS ARC
